One thing that I really enjoy while working with my Network Marketing business is learning the “Art of Leverage.”

On occasion someone will ask me “What is leverage? What do you mean by that term leverage?” As I try to explain it, the words sometimes become clumsy and don’t do the “Art of Leverage” justice. But I keep trying in hopes that I will get closer in describing it as powerfully as I experience it. Here goes another try.

One could describe it as the art of working smarter, with seemingly less effort, while accomplishing more. Sometimes it even amounts to a great deal more. If I have a customer base of 900 people and I alone were their support, certainly I could end up never really providing much service to anyone while at the same time working 24 hours a day trying to do it.

On the other hand if I find 30 people who also want to build a powerful business and future, we could each take care of 30 people and we could all manage that with no problem and everyone wins. The customer, the distributors, and the company all win. In the beginning I worked very hard to find customers.

When I learned about leverage it became my focus to attract very committed business partners to work together with as a team. My business took on a whole new dimension at that time and I began to experience leverage in a whole new way. Teamwork is incredible leverage because …..Together Everyone Earns More. I don’t need to be the expert in everything, I’ve got amazing people on my team that can make up for any shortcomings I might have.

Building a large and successful Network Marketing business is very much like a songwriter that receives royalties over a lifetime and beyond. Hey, Elvis Presley makes a fortune every year, and he has been dead for how long?

The key is to have an exceptional product line and an exceptional company that transcends modern trending. There is a further dimension of leverage that I’ve also experienced as an Eco-Entrepreneur with the Amazon Herb Company. You see it offers much greater leverage than I ever dreamed was possible, not only in the financial arena but literally in all aspects of life. In my ten years with the company I am seeing that every aspect of my life has been enhanced. I am a better husband, father, friend, business associate, and entrepreneur. My health has improved, my spiritual life is more connected, and I am just in general a more whole, loving, healthy person. I have more time, more commitment, more focus, and more financial wherewithal. I feel like I am developing life skills that will enable me to do literally anything at all that I am called to do, and I am just so grateful.

The “Art of Leverage” is fun to learn and practice. It can be as simple as handing someone a powerful CD that explains what you do instead of spending 30 minutes or more trying to explain the power of your business with them. I let the CD do it for me. But hey, there are endless ways to leverage your time, money and resources. You will never think the same or be the same after you experience the potency of working smart and leveraging your time and effort. I would certainly encourage everyone to learn about and practice this powerful art and we can all watch our business and lives grow in powerful and dynamic ways.

What are values? How we we align them with our work?

Values are simply what you treasure, admire, appreciate, believe-in and cherish.

Simply put, a value is what is important to you.  Some possibilities are:  beauty, financial freedom, community, spirituality, honesty, service, integrity, commitment, nature, environmental preservation, free-time, discipline, sex, family, independence, animals, adventure, cars, artistic expression, cleanliness, health, laughter, travel or security.  A value can be more specific like a person, a place or a thing as well.

If you had a treasure chest of your most valuables, what would be included?  Take some time to list 5 – 10 of your values.  (Keep the list to ten or less.)  Be honest with yourself and ask what YOU care about.  Do not compare yourself to anyone else.  This is for you and deep within you know what feels important to you.  Let the values be revealed to you on paper without any particular order.

Next, create the hierarchy of your values as best as you can by writing each value on a 3 X 5 card and asking yourself, if you had to choose between one or the other, which would be most important.  Go through your list and compare each item with another by placing the cards in order until you are satisfied that your list is in order of importance for who you are at this time.

Now, ask yourself, “Am I living in integrity with my values?”  Evaluate if your current profession allows you to design a life in harmony with your values.  Evaluate what you can do to better live in consistency with these values.  If you are not currently in the direct sales profession, you may want to explore companies that align with what you believe to be of importance.  If you are in direct sales already, you may what to remember that you do have the opportunity to
better align your work habits to fit your values.  What changes are you willing to make?  If your values are very opposed to your life, you are not being honest with yourself because your daily choices do come from an internal value set.  Maybe you value “being right” over relationship.

If so, this exercise will help you to be more honest with yourself and thus choose to change.  By fulfilling this exercise you can open to transformation. You can create a living putting your values first.  You can live a life suited to you.

The important thing to remember is whatever you find most important to you is specific to you.  With the peace of settling into your personal value set, you too can breeze through life with lightness in your step and a smile on your face because you are living your authentic self.  Even if the world tells you to value monetary wealth but you find simplicity more fulfilling, you can relax into simplicity.  If your Parents valued prediction and you prefer spontaneity, live your life spontaneously!  If you value financial freedom over recreation at this time, work efficiently (instead of going to a movie) to achieve financial freedom!  If you value honesty over money, always tell the truth even if it costs you (in the short term.)

Once you know your core values you can better choose a network marketing company that mirrors those values.  If you are already in network marketing, remember to bring your values to life with your work.

In a network marketing lifestyle you can align your personal values with your work.

In the direct selling business, we have an opportunity to design a business and lifestyle that embraces and demonstrates our personal values now. While we persevere towards our goals we can also live authentically with our core values, thus experiencing the essence of those goals in the process; This is mindfulness.   Indeed, the best time to realize our dreams is now, and the way I’ve found to do this is through an entrepreneurial direct selling business! Let me give you some examples.

One of my top values is freedom. By engaging in my referral marketing business, I create my own schedule and it varies daily. I have the options of when I want to work, the freedom to choose my own marketing methodologies and the flexibility to change and flow with the shifting activities involved in my business. I am free to work from home, on the road or outside on the patio if I choose. I can share my products and professional opportunity while I travel. And I can teach others how they can have more freedom in their lives if they so choose.

Here is another example: One of my associate partners values family. With a young boy, husband and mother-in-law under one roof, she is living a life where she works from home and is able to be with those she loves while growing her sales volume monthly. She can nurse her child and rock him to sleep in between phone calls. She can simmer a hot soup while catching up on her emails. She enjoys the gift of family and work side by side.

Another professional network marketer may value health. To her exercising daily in nature, having times of silence and stillness and eating pure foods bring her great pleasure. Because her direct selling company is involved in health products, she can share this passion with others and be an example to her customers of true vitality.

She also associates with people of like-mind and finds new clients at health classes, on hikes and during retreat events. She creates a style of doing business healthily, and it happens naturally for her.

A direct selling professional who values friendship can build an organization of friends and truly do business while sharing personal dialogue thus offering true customer care because she enjoys her customers, meeting new people and socializing her way to financial abundance.

We each have our own spectrum of values. And when you examine your values closely and prioritize them honestly, you then have the option to commit to living in truth with yourself.

I think it’s common in America that we often think of success in terms of fame, adoration, distinction and wealth.  Now, I think we would all agree that while those things are nice we know that they don’t necessarily result in happiness and in my experience it seems that underneath everything, we are all looking for just a little bit of happiness in this life.

What I would like to do in this short article is to share another dimension or two to this idea of success and specifically apply it to success in Network Marketing, and, even more specifically apply it to the idea of happiness.

The happiness formula that I’ve seen make sense is this:  Success + Fulfillment = Happiness!  And what is fulfillment?  Well, it seems fulfillment is very connected with having a sense that you make a difference, that you have some contribution to make to another human being, and that at the foundation of what you do or offer is ultimately about true and lasting Value!
